In march 2011 started the construction of Lotte World Tower (롯데월드 타워) - also named Lotte World Premium Tower.
Once completed, this skyscraper will be 555 meters tall, becoming the 2nd tallest building in the World after the Burj Dubai.
The tallest building in Asia
The architect company behind this design is Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF). This company has already designed several buildings in Seoul, including the famous Dongbu Financial Center. Lotte Construction is in charge of building it and its total cost will be over 3 billion dollars.
The tower - located at Jamsil beside the Lotte World Complex- will have 123 floors:
- floors 1 to 6 will be dedicated to retail
- offices (7 to 60)
- officetel (61 to 85)
- a 7 stars luxury hotel (86 to 119th floor)
- the highest floors (120-123) will be available for public access with an observation deck, a cafe, a gallery and an observation shop.
A unique view by night
The building has also been designed to provide a unique scenery at night by highlighting the building's architecture using a serie of white lights:However since the building is still under construction, here is how the tower looks like now. You can go to see it by yourself if you stop at Jamsil (잠실) subway station line 2 or line 8:
